The Coalition conducted a health fair in Habersham in 1970, their first summer in Appalachia. They built relationships with local leaders through the Habersham PTA. While a clinic did not grow from this early community organizing, Coalition leaders remained in touch with Habersham residents over the years while pursuing projects related to health and economics.
Habersham is located in East Tennessee near the Kentucky border and near to other early health fair sites.
See the 1970 and 1972 SHC Annual Reports for more information.
